To avoid distraction most videographers will recommend against red. The wavelength of red makes it bleed on many monitors. High Definition and higher resolution equipment make this color bleed less of a problem these days, but who knows how your mediator will choose to watch your video. Also avoid small patterns and tight herring-bone like materials as they tend to “shimmer” on camera.
Big print is usually best avoided (as is anything distracting). Common sense goes along way here. If an article of clothing is the least bit distracting, don't risk using it in your shot. Other things to consider avoiding are dangling earrings as well as hats and gloves.
The small print in this jacket will often cause a "strobe" effect in a video camera. While the new HD cameras help reduce the effect, the final version of your video should almost always be delivered on a standard definition DVD for compatibility. The strobe will appear in the final version.
Be careful of small print shirts and blouses too. When in doubt, leave it out.
